When he was younger....something happened to his family. Something that sent him on the path of vengeance and a demon took advantage of that.
His name was Orthax.
He gave Percy the initial plans for his pepperbox and in doing so took claim on his soul. Orthax is dangerous and if you ever see Percy's eyes change, go black and gold, or see an unnatural seeping from him...I need you to tell me right away.
Do you think it's possible a demon from your world could find him here? That seems...surely the faction leaders wouldn't just blithely allow that to happen?
[Then again, it's not like the faction leaders have shown flawless judgment in who they've brought here already. Barcus' heart sinks a little, remembering that Bane's Chosen was here. Had he brought Bane in his head with him, Gortash could have caused untold havoc.]
Is Percy's contract broken, or does this demon still own his soul?
Where I'm from I managed to save him from Orthax and bring him back however for him...for him he has lost the original gun but what he doesn't know, and he can't know for now, is that he has a pact with the woman who tortured Percy when he was younger.
It's again a story that is not mine to tell but...this Percy still has that tie to Orthax. He still has a claim to Percy's soul.
I understand why you didn't tell me sooner. This is...a lot, and I can see why Percy might not thank you for sharing the story. But I wish I had known.

Yes well, not all of his inventions are connected to that thing. In fact his other pepperboxes are perfectly fine. I hadn't thought it'd be an issue but now with how he's been acting I worry.

Things will be resolved in his future but I don't know how far that is for him. And if Orthax shows up here...it could be very bad.
It's an ingenious weapon. I was trying to come up with something similar back home, only I approached it differently; smokepowder within smaller shells, rather than using it as a propellant. His way is more efficient. [Scary that it was a collaborative project with a demon, though.]
I'll keep my eyes open. I'm not much of a mage, I'm afraid. When it comes down to it, he and I may have an equal understanding of technology but he has a grasp of magic on a level I've never had access to. I shouldn't wonder that a demon would be interested in him.
He's brilliant and he knows it. He's earned that confidence on some level.
But yes, thank you. I'm in the same boat, not all that arcane-ly inclined myself. That's more Kiki's thing. He...I think he knows more of the theories than anything. I haven't really seen him cast any thing.
