CHARACTER NAME: Barcus Wroot
CHARACTER SERIES: Baldur's Gate 3

[OOC]
This is the permissions list for OOC (out of character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired.

Backtagging: Absolutely!
Threadhopping: If you clear it with all parties first, yes.
Fourthwalling: Castmates are always welcome to have heard of him, but otherwise perhaps not.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): As a player, I have no triggers. However, I prefer certain subjects be approached with sensitivity and content warnings. These subjects include: domestic abuse, rape/sexual violence, animal abuse, transphobia and homophobia, and self-harm. I will play threads wherein these topics come up ICly, but I will always try to include a CW.

[IC]
This is the permissions list for IC (in-character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired. With IC permissions, it's a good idea to elaborate on what other players can expect from your character if they choose to do any of the following:

Hugging this character: If he doesn't know you he will assume this is aggression, unless you're a child. I'm fine with it though!
Kissing this character: Same as above.
Flirting with this character: As a player, I'm open to all flirting. Barcus is wayyyyyy up there on the Kinsey scale so he's unlikely to take any female characters up on it, but I'm not opposed to seeing what happens. He is also likely to assume anyone significantly bigger than him (i.e. anyone who's not a gnome or halfling) is teasing, so you may have an uphill battle.
Fighting with this character: Yes, but he's not very good at it unless he has explosives on him.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Frankly I'm amazed he has 20 whole hit points. Injuring him is fine but be aware he's not going to bounce back but so easily.
Killing this character: Not without prior discussion and usually I'm not in favor.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Yes.

Warnings:
Canon-typical violence, which can be very intense
Slavery--in canon he and a handful of his kin are enslaved by duergar in the Grymforge, and he is peripherally involved in the quest to free the Gondians from Gortash's Steel Watch Foundry
Mild xenophobia--deep gnomes are untrustful of outsiders, but they do have some legit reasons for it
Potential body horror if tadpoles/mindflayers are involved

Housed in a large but otherwise unremarkable building in Grey Ward, a significant distance from both the Soot Spire and the ocean, this place is meant not to turn a profit, but to create a venue for researchers, artisans, alchemists, and scholars of various stripes to share and discuss their work. It's part library, part makerspace, part think tank.

There is a lounge area, stocked with assorted reference texts and any written materials other Visitors care to donate. There's a little nook where tea, coffee, or cocoa can be made, and occasionally there may be snacks there, but gods help you if you spill anything on anyone else's reading or projects.

There is an alchemy and apothecary lab. Patrons are expected to clean up after themselves, follow safety protocols, and to refrain from confusing edible ingredients with corrosive, poisonous, and explosive materials.

A larger hall houses two forges, one for metal and one for glass. Assorted other machines can be found here, many of them Barcus' own design. When he has scrap metal or spare materials, he will leave them in the bins for others to tinker with.

The carpentry counter is comparatively modest, but there are at least saws and carving tools. Others are welcome to add items as they see fit. Some smaller side rooms may contain spare parts and equipment for working on a more delicate scale: suitable for gemcutting or clockwork.

A staircase leads to a cellar, which in turn leads to a deeper bunker set into the nearby hillside, where a long stone alley is set up for target practice or explosives tests. Once again, patrons are expected to observe all reasonable safety protocols. Healing potions may be available in the lounge, but don't bet your life on that.

“You shouldn’t go anywhere alone,” Thulla tells him. “Not after dark.” She’s the most practical amongst the Ironhands, free of Philomeen’s breakneck determination or Laridda’s wary introversion. Wide-minded enough to attend to things other than the forge, but more of a thinker than Brounce or Fulgaro. Barcus likes her. She’ll be his second-in-command if he has anything to say about it. The Ironhands need her balanced approach.
